Relax With Our Radio
Audiobooks
My dad loved radio audiobooks. They reminded him of the days spent huddled with his family around the beautiful
Crosley radio in my grandparents' living room. In those days, radio featured not only music but comedy and drama as
well. Those classic shows and their unforgettable characters took my dad from knickers to an Army uniform to a
business suit before they were overshadowed by their televised cousins.
But did you know that the radio show never died --- it just went underground? In the United States, public radio
and some privately-owned stations still continue to broadcast radio dramas, comedies, and even musicals. These new
productions have joined the canon of older classic material to create a rich and living genre. And we're fortunate
to be able to bring some of these programs to you in the form of radio audiobooks.
Check out the 15 Minute Musical series, written by Dave Cohen, David Quantick, and Richie Webb and originally
broadcast on BBC. These mini-musicals in a variety of styles are guaranteed to provide hours of enjoyment.
Not into musicals? The Adventures of Spiderman by Dirk Maggs brings Clark, Lois, Jimmy and Lex back to life -
who needs DVDs?
And if your tastes run to literary radio audiobooks, you'll definitely want to download Shakespeare's Macbeth
with Paul Scofield in the title role and Peggy Ashcroft as Macbeth's scheming, ambitious wife. This is a truly
outstanding production - one you'll want to hear over and over again.
Music, adventure, and drama live on in these exciting radio audiobooks!
